Brianna Burnette- Washington, D.C.

brianna1Brianna Burnette, Miss Black Teen District of Columbia is a fifteen year old honor roll student at St. John’s College High School in Washington, DC.  She is the recipient of several awards including the U.S. Achievement Academy National Honors Student Award; the U.S. Presidential Honors Award; Achievement of Distinction Award and the Librarian Achievement Award.

 

Miss Burnette is a member of the Track and Field Team and assisted in the creation of the Breast Cancer Society at St. John’s.  Additionally, she won the lead roles in “The Passion of the Christ” and The Life of a Princess” plays.  Brianna was also the recipient of the Washington Redskin’s Junior Cheerleader Most Friendly and Most Energetic Awards and has served as a model in fashion shows.  In middle school at St. Pius X, Brianna was a member of the Softball Team and MVP and Team Captain of the Varsity Basketball Team.  A natural born leader, Brianna is the Captain of her step team, a Spanish 2 tutor, Youth Ministry Assistant Instructor and member of the Praise and Worship Team.

 

Brianna is passionate and concerned about the well being, including the health, happiness and prosperity of the homeless female youth in our society.  It is with her title that she will promote her platform of “Helping Homeless Youth” by organizing the Winds of Change Program.  Through Winds of Change, Brianna will raise the awareness, on a local and national level, for continued support and education of homeless young females through the collection and distribution of basic necessities such as toiletries, school supplies and clothing.

 

Celebrating its 21st year, the Miss Black USA Organization was founded to provide educational opportunities to outstanding young women of color by developing the whole woman in mind, body and spirit.  New to the organization this year is the implementation of its Talented Teen Program and a $5000.00 scholarship towards her college education for the National Winner.

 

Brianna is proud to be the first Miss Black District of Columbia USA Talented Teen 2009.
