Denise Bethune – Entrepreneur

Denise Bethune Bio PictureAfro Puffs and Ponytails present Denise Bethune, the great-great niece of the extraordinary African American woman leader Mary McLeod Bethune, as our latest entry in the African American Women Entrepreneur category.

My name is Denise Bethune (NeCe to my friends and family).  I was born and raised in Whitesboro, New Jersey. I completed my formative years of education in Cape May County and am currently pursuing my Master’s Degree in Business/Public Administration. During this journey called “my life”, I’ve discovered that part of my purpose is to help motivate others to their highest level of achievement.  Because of this new found knowledge and the transforming effect it has had on my life, I decided to create a place in which to showcase talent that might otherwise go unnoticed.  Exposure is the main key to success.

Showcase Mag/Dir..Inc is a business/organizational directory (Quarterly, at the present) that highlights entrepreneurs and their individual services, products, contact information. Along with the publication, Showcase has partnered with other organizations as a networking means. The Fall/Winter Edition is available for viewership on the website.

I am also Editor-in-Chief to P.E.A.S. Magazine, whose mission is to highlight missing children nationwide, as well as to provide resources for support, encouragement, and parenting skills. It is important to note that some of the children highlighted in this publication, have been missing for over 20 years.

When I decided to develop Showcase, it was through researching…and through my research for information, etc… for school papers….what I found opened up a whole new area in which I knew about, but not as broad.  The organizations, business around this nation are astronomical, working diligently providing community leadership, products and services for consumers use daily.  If I didn’t know these business/organizations existed, who else is being denied.  I decided that a business directory was an avenue in which to bring visibility to so many… [The individuals whom I have been fortunate in connecting with are to be commended for giving back to their communities.  Their work is phenomenal to say the least.]

To the young ladies who may be reading this article:

Just remember that you have so much to offer this world…. don’t let anyone tell you any different.  You are destined to possess all that God has in place for you.  Your sole responsibility is to recognize it, embrace it and remember to give back to those who have helped you along the way, even those who never knew they did.   Pay it forward!

If you have made mistakes…there is always another chance for you…you may have a fresh start any moment you choose, for this thing we call “failure” is not the falling down, but the staying down.  — Mary Pickford
