Sistrs for Power, Inc. (SISTRS), is a non-profit community service organization of young African-American women dedicated to the advancement and empowerment of other women and girls of color. Ms. Kiianah M. Johnson is the President/CEO of SISTRS For Power, Inc.
Mission Statement
It is our vision to uplift and promote positive self-esteem and cultural awareness for the younger generations of black women that will be the leaders of tomorrow. We strive to destroy and deter from negative media images before they begin, encourage artistic and creative outlets and communication, while building strong positive female bonds and providing role models for the younger generations.
Vision
SISTRS was founded in an effort to address the great need for a strong and positive support system within the black female community and the knowledge of unlimited resources. By uplifting, empowering, unifying and encouraging those young women who have the desire, and the need, SISTRS aims to unite that network and promote sisterhood.
SISTRS aims to unite as many young women as possible and help young women to reach their goals and aspirations spiritually, physically, mentally, and emotionally. Afro Puffs and Ponytails is constantly searching for information about clubs and organizations to provide as resources for parents and community organizers. It is our hopes that each resource provided will serve to build confidence, enhance self esteem, instill leadership skills, empower, uplift and educate our African American girls. We are not recommending these programs, but offering a starting point for you to conduct your own evaluation and research about whether a program is right for your child.
